The Council

The Council

Hello everyone! Natalie again.

Today was another productive day. We had a feast for breakfast with eggs, sausage, spam, and rice of course. The rest of our morning consisted of making many many phone calls. We traveled to my second cousin’s clinic for a landline and had grandma call businesses in Tagbilaran and Cebu cities. We made calls up until lunch until we called it a day for a break.

Lunch of course was great with fried fish and fish soup.

I was looking forward to the afternoon all day as we had a meeting with the Water Council and Barangay Council set up. Before the meeting, however, we went to confirm stats about the well. The day had consisted of on and off intense thunderstorms. Right as we were about to finish up our observations on the well, the rain started pouring again. We only got a little soaking wet. But we went back to the Barangay Hall and dried up. Maija and Meredith were finally introduced to the wonderful councils. We talked for hours about the project and the future timeline and steps needed for its success. They even spilled the beans on a surprise thank you celebration they will be having for us next week! Once we wrapped up business, we took a group picture and ended for the day.

The team, grandparents, and dad Joel took a trip to the market in Tubigon where we treated ourselves to ice cream. I got durian flavored ice cream! I would not recommend as it had a very interesting after taste.

Alas I am too excited to go to bed after writing this post.

Come back tomorrow for another post from Maija!
