Farewell Fiesta

Farewell Fiesta

Maayo (hello) everyone!

This week is going by so fast. This morning we met with some leaders of the community and discussed finances (heavy business). Then we went to the Bohol Electric Company (BOHECO) to ask about any permits needed to tap into the mainline. The people there were so friendly and of course knew my famous grandparents.

In the next two days, we will be traveling away from the community to cities to meet with businesses which will conclude our trip. Because this is our last day to spend with the community of Ubujan, they threw us a goodbye celebration! It started off with members of the Water Council, the Barangay Council, and Capitan Nonie saying a few words about the project. Then the EWB members spoke to the councils about how glad we are to be partnering with such kind people. Next, they served us the most elaborate feast including lechon (a whole smoked pig)! Growing up, I know this was only served in very special occasions and I felt so honored. We then ended the celebration with lots of dancing and karaoke. We were all sweating by the end. We said our goodbyes and see you soons and headed off for the night.

I am so thankful to be able to visit this community again. These memories are ones I will keep with me forever.
